Kew Court House Opening Celebrations

The brief was to animate, activate and celebrate the newly repurposed 1888 heritage building. Once indeed the Kew Court House, it has been redeveloped into the Kew Court House Community Cultural Centre by the City of Boroondara thanks to fantastic community fundraising and an artful heritage-rich renovation.

Whole of community involvement was achieved through open invitation and a community consultation period including workshopping of ideas with explosivemedia. A vibrant mix of visual and performing arts, historical exhibitions and talks was produced by explosivemedia from 18 through to 26 June 2011.

The official launch day, Sunday 26 June 2011, activated the entire Centre, with the official opening followed by an unforgettable acrobatic aerial theatre performance by Melbourne’s own Dislocate. Photos: Telia Nevile.
