On a perfect summer’s day, a triumphant Bright n Sandy Food & Wine Festival attracted record and capacity numbers to Green Point, Brighton Beach Gardens – close to 17,000 visitors over the day, Sunday 6 March 2011.

Georgia Fields was a superb start to the festivities, as were Junior Masterchefs Siena, Cassidy and Nick creating prawn tortellini. The Wolfgramm Sisters gave a vibrant stage performance mid-afternoon and, in the Food & Wine Presentation Kitchen, The Pantry’s Daniel Vaughan provided a highly entertaining insight into good food and good times. Michele Curtis, Max Allen, Pierrick Boyer and Kirsty Laird of La Latteria were other food & wine presentation highlights, hosted by Allan Campion (The Foodies’ Guide to Melbourne). Kids cooking, face & body art, beach sport including new for 2011 stand-up paddleboarding and windsurfing, craft and literary adventures all had a huge take-up rate. Over 30 gourmet food, wine, ice-cream, coffee and diverse lifestyle exhibits showcased the Bayside region.

This was explosivemedia’s fourth successive festival as event producer for Bayside City Council and the biggest challenge on the day was the capacity crowd! Photos: Casamento Photography.
